The first cause is to directly help a group of 100 Ukrainian orphans known to a Papplewick mother who headed for the Polish border in three groups, but who were then safely reunited on a Polish farm which the owner has generously given over to them instead of using it for holiday lets. The challenge now is to meet their financial needs in order to allow them to remain in safety on the farm for as long as possible including enabling them to go to school in September.

The second cause is for Underdog International (aptly named as Lesley loved nothing more than giving confidence to boys in learning support who may have felt like underdogs), a UK based charity working globally to help children and dogs encouraging kindness, empathy, resilience and confidence, and creating compassion and joy – as they say, one dog, one child at a time.
