12th November 2010
Anthony Seldon stimulated and entertained parents in equal measure on Thursday 11th November.
Anthony Seldon, Master of Wellington College, spoke to a very erudite (!) group of Papplewick parents on Thursday evening. The main thrust of his talk was that senior schools were going to change dramatically over the next twenty-five years due to three factors: the proliferation of exams at 18, the continued growth in the use of computers in teaching, and future governmental policy. However, his talk was not confined to educational matters with wider political issues and 'well-being' also on the agenda, the latter raising his concern that all parents present at the talk should have been out for at least one ‘date’ with their husband/wife over the last week! He was less than reassured that for one couple, the weekly ‘date’ was deemed to be coming to Papplewick together to listen to Anthony speak! Many thanks to all the parents who came to support this hugely entertaining evening, and of course to Anthony Seldon too.
